Bio: A native of Minnesota, he received his B.A. from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, his M.D. from the University of Minnesota and his internship at Bethesda Lutheran Medical Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. His career has included both private practice and Academic positions at the Mayo Clinic, Residency Director at the University of Minnesota, and Family Practice Department Chair at Southern Illinois University. He is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine with the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and has been with Family Practice since 1992.He has published, lectured, and done research on a broad variety of subjects including hypertension, headaches, diabetes mellitus, patient-physician communication, GERD, hyperlipidemia, COPD, asthma, periodic health examinations, arthritis, UTIs, erectile dysfunction, nutrition, herbs, and depression.
