Works with the Nurse Manager to manage day to day clinic operations.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct patient care with exemplary customer service to internal and external customers. Duties included but not limited to triage/screening patients; patient ancillary visits (injections); patient education; follow up in the office or by telephone with patients for medical management of health condition
  • Work closely with patients throughout the intake process to help physicians develop treatment plans and strategies. The clinic nurse completes vitals and asks patients questions about current symptoms and medical histories to provide doctors with a complete understanding of a patient’s current medical needs and background. Completes accurate medication reconciliation at each patient visit.
  • Provide direct support and assistance for the faculty, resident physicians and mid-level providers.
  • Prepare equipment or other instruments for a doctor or assist with procedures during a patient visit.
  • Ensure that facilities are clean and prevent the spread of disease by sanitizing and maintaining equipment. Follow proper disposal procedures for potentially hazardous materials including sharps. Clean and sterilize equipment.
  • Clinic nurses interact with patients throughout the day and often liaise between patients, doctors, and patient representatives like family members. Clinic nurses need to adhere to privacy laws including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Communicate and collaborated with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family organization.
  • Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Continually evaluate patient care needs, prioritizing treatment and maintaining patient flow.
  • Handle patient pharmacy needs by refilling prescriptions to preferred pharmacies.
  • Ensure quality patient care throughout clinic; monitor charts for precise documentation and to be sure patient quality measures are being met.
  • Administer injections and immunizations.
  • Triage and assess phone calls from patients, facilities, specialists, and hospitals to prioritize care and quickly handle urgent issues.
  • Detail oriented allowing efficient use of electronic medical records to coordinate care between physician specialist offices, participants, home care, hospitals, long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities.
  • Assist faculty physicians in the training of resident physicians in a primary care medicine clinic.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 and every 6th Saturday 8-12 (which is on hold because we are currently not open on Saturdays).


Required Education and Experience

RN and preferred experience working in outpatient.
